March 8th-12th, 2020

“Who you are tomorrow begins with what you do today” ~ Tim Fargo

In Writing Workshop, grade 2 will explore how great poets give meaning to their poetry by comparing one thing to another, and how poets sometimes write from a point of view other than their own. Students will also learn how poets revise their poems by replacing vague feeling words with images that show, not tell.

In Reading Workshop, we are starting our new unit, ‘Series Book Club’. Students will learn about characters from their relationship with other characters. They will use this knowledge to make predictions.

Students have chosen a book to read. They will collect information about the character:

-      * is the character a boy, girl, or any other? (give evidence) what words; what page number.

-      * words that describe the character (appearance) give evidence – what words describe; what page number.

-      * how is the character feeling? – (give evidence) what words tell you that; what page number.

-      * character trait – (give evidence) what words and what is the page number.

Students will discuss the characters in the same series book.

In Math grade 2 students will continue learning about fractions. They will get further practice with making equal fractions.

Happy learning!
